International Youth Day 2020 Plenary: Designing for youth, with youth
August 26, 2020: To celebrate International Youth Day, YLabs Executive Director Dr. Rebecca Hope joined Aika Matemu of Dalberg Design and Larissa Muthoni of IDEO.org in a conversation about the role of design thinking in addressing Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) challenges in low resource settings. This webinar was hosted by the HCD Exchange.
“I think the most exciting thing about the new intersection of human-centered design methodology and AYSRH is the opportunity to learn from both fields,” said Hope. “As a doctor who now works in design, I see a great opportunity to build on the knowledge that we have in the medical and public health fields with approaches in HCD that can better engage young people.”
“It’s about putting young people in the driver’s seat, respecting them as experts, and finding ways to amplify their voices and ideas in programming.”
