Video: How can we rethink sex education?
Sex education is not working for young people. When present, it often focuses predominantly on disease and pregnancy prevention and is laced with fear, shame, and gender stereotypes. Information about pleasure, consent, and body literacy is missing from sex education, making it difficult for young people to make healthier and more confident decisions about their sexual health.
Supported by The Case for Her, YLabs worked with young people and their communities in El Salvador to understand how we can rethink sex and relationship education.
We are working with young people to design a bold, new, engaging approach to sex education. We believe that open conversations about sex and pleasure can improve sexual health and lead to safer, equitable, and happier relationships. You can find out more about our project here.
